Opening Night!

So our show opened tonight, and it went pretty well. We only had about 30 or 40 people, but the theatre only fits 98 to that wasn’t too bad. Our Saturday morning show’s almost full already, so that should be awesome. We’re expecting more kids in the weekends anyway, since they’re on at 11am and 2pm instead of 6:30.

No major bloopers or anything, other than a few slightly-too-long silences with people not picking up cues, and one guy saying the punch-line to the wrong joke in the wrong place, but that was it, nothing big. Our director came tonight, even though she’s already seen the show “95 billion times”. I think she was quite happy with it, so that was good.

Right. Now I’m off to visit all of my affiliates and catch up on commenting!

September baby

Well I know I don’t post as often as I used to, so I figured this might be exciting! I kind of stole it from Mel, only she didn’t have my month, so I had to find it on Google, if you click on the “more” link underneath you’ll find yours :)

1. Put your birth month in an entry.
2. Strike out anything that you don’t tend to think of yourself.
3. Bold the ones that you think best apply to you, as well as the name of the month you were born in.
4. Keep the other eleven for those who steal this.

SEPTEMBER:
Suave and compromising. Careful, cautious and organized. Likes to point out people’s mistakes. Likes to criticize. Stubborn. Quiet but able to talk well. Calm and cool. Kind and sympathetic. Concerned and detailed. Loyal but not always honest. Does work well. Very confident. Sensitive. Thinking generous. Good memory. Clever and knowledgeable. Loves to look for information. Must control oneself when criticizing. Able to motivate oneself. Understanding. Fun to be around. Secretive. Loves sports, leisure and traveling. Hardly shows emotions. Tends to bottle up feelings. Very choosy, especially in relationships. Systematic.

Some people!!!!

Argh! We had rehearsal this afternoon, from 3 until 5, and when I got there, I found the director and one of the guys in the theatre. The director was absolutely furious (she was swearing, and she never swears!) because last night there had been a fundraising auction in the theatre, so the people in charge of that had ended up moving our set and props at stuff out of the way to make room for their auction table etc.

Unfortunately they didn’t clean up after themselves and left a huge mess on the stage. All our stuff (including a random manniquin, which is nothing to do with us!) was just dumped everywhere! There was also a thick coating of sawdust all over the stage from the people who’d been in to build the set for the musical, which opens two weeks after we close! Everything was a mess, and I had to spend ten minutes vaccuming the stage before we could even start! Grr! I hate people sometimes, they have no respect! Honestly, how hard would it have been to put our stuff back how they’d found it!!??

Also, one of the people in the cast didn’t even show up! There are only six of us in the show, 3 of us were there at three, one girl had three wisdom teeth taken out on Thursday so she was understandably excused, one other girl had just moved into a new flat and had told the director she’d be late, so that was ok, but the sixth person just didn’t come! The director phoned her and sent her text messages, but there was no reply! She didn’t come last Sunday either! Apparently she didn’t realise we were rehearsing on the weekends, but she’s been with this company for at least a year, so she should have known by now! Hopefully something hasn’t happened to her though, that would be bad. :-/

As a result, we only rehearsed for just over an hour, since there was no point trying to run the whole show with two people missing! Next Sunday’s our major rehearsal day, we go from 11am til 5pm, just going over and over the show with our props and costumes and technical stuff etc. Hopefully everyone actually shows up for that!

Right. That’s my rant over. We’re rehearsing again tomorrow night, so hopefully things go better then!

Birthday!

I turned 19 yesterday and last night my friends and parents and I went out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant.

It was so cool! It was a teppenyaki place, which, for those of you don’t know, means the chef comes to your table, where you have your own hot plates, and cooks everything right in front of you, which is entertainment too! Our chef was so cool. He was a really cute (adorable cute, not attractive cute) Korean guy who wrote “Happy Birthday” in salt on the hot plate after he finished! (photo in album).

My cake was pretty, heheh, it was chocolate with pink hearts <3 Yay for Divine Cakes & Desserts. All the waitresses had kimonos, which was really cool, one let me take a photo of her…yep, I took a lot of photos!

Some of you might also notice that this post seems to have tomorrow’s day on it! This is because I just downloaded this plugin that lets me change the timezone of my blog to the actual time in NZ. I got it mostly right, it says the right date, but the time is 11 hours early. It’s really 3:46pm and not quarter to 5 in the morning. Oh well, close enough!

.:EDIT:.
Hahah! I just spent half a day wondering why nobody had commented on this post, but just now I realised I accidentally made it private! Oops!
