Quite a bit has happened since I last blogged, and I’m still pretty tired, but not quite so bad as I was yesterday!
Saturday night my friend and I went to Christmas in the Park, which is basically a big, annual outdoor concert, it was pretty cool, although the weather turned a bit windy and cold after awhile. They had awesome fireworks at the end though, which was funny, because they went off way before I expected them too, gave me a huge fright, and almost made me drop the camera!
Sunday was my dad’s 60th birthday, well, his actual birthDATE is the 15th, but we didn’t do much to celebrate until the weekend, aside from going out for dinner. We basically had an “open house” type thing, where everyone could come over whenever they liked. It was pretty cool because we got to see my aunt and uncle who we don’t see very often, since they don’t live in Christchurch. I’ve got some photos, which I will upload to my gallery once I’ve posted this.
Last night was rehearsal again, our first one without our scripts (which is probably a good thing, since we open on the 9th!). I was really surprised that I knew all my lines without ever having made a conscious effort to sit down and study them! I knew I knew the gist of what I was suspposed to say, so it’d be easy to adlib, but I never realised how well they’d gone into my brain!
Anyway, that was my exciting weekend, time to upload photos and return comments…and maybe even think about a new layout!

Well rehearsal today was pretty cool. Someone finally got rid of the reminants of the Joseph set so we had a lot more space to actually do stuff, although we haven’t flown Peter yet, since it’s not rigged.
He and Captain Hook (who is REALLY REALLY tall, I’m up to his arms when he folds them across his chest!) started sword fighting today though, which looks awesome, but kind of dangerous since they actually use pretty solid metal swords which could do some nasty damage if they messed up. I’m kind of jealous that I’m not a pirate now, hahah!
We also got our “Social Calendar” which is fun. They’re going mini-golfing next Sunday but I can’t go because it’s my dad’s birthday. We’re also having a costume party (My idea, woohoo!). I haven’t really decided what to go as yet, I’m tossing up between Elphaba (Yes. My ambition in life is to be green, what’s wrong with that?) and the White Rabbit (which I know I’ll be able to get a costume for, since I’ve played that part twice before!). I’ve got a couple of weeks to decide though, and I’ll definately post photos of whatever I dress up as!

Ok, so the last post (which you should still read!) wasn’t the shortest one ever…this one is though!
Well last night was my first rehearsal for Peter Pan, aside from the read through we had last weekend. It went pretty well, aside from Captain Hook, Chief Feather Brain, Running Bear and a couple of pirates not being there.
I was surprised that this cast is pretty young, usually I’m used to being one of the younger ones, but this time I’m in the older half, and I’m not even that old!
Blocking the scenes was pretty interesting, since they still hadn’t entirely got rid of the set for Joseph, and there were still piles of junk everywhere, but hopefully that’ll be moved by Thursday night.
Our director suggested, jokingly we hope, that the guy playing Peter Pan check out his life insurance policy, since he’s going to be flown above the stage in the first scene! That should be fun! I know the theatre’s fly tower is high enough to do it, but I’ve never actually seen a person flown before, only a mannequin! I’ll have to make sure I get photos of that at some stage!
We open on December 9, which really isn’t that far away!
This is the shortest post ever, just to let you know that I am still alive (!) and the reason I haven’t been updating so much is because I’ve been so busy! I spent a lot of last week at the theatre doing front of house and ushering for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and tonight rehearsals start for Peter Pan! Argh!
