Thanks to everyone who suggested improvements to my site, hopefully it looks cool now.

I’ve been tagged by Meisy, to explain where my site name came from, so I will copy and paste the explanation from my FAQ…

It took me a couple of days to think of a decent name for the site, and since I’m a New Zealander who’s obsessed with fairies, I decided this was as good a name as any. It’s a little different to the names of other similar sites, so that has to be a good thing too!

Well, after that enthralling interlude (I’m going to tag Cristina, Josie, Poppy, Elle, Erin, Ashley, Danwei, Kortni, Carolynne & Antoinette btw), I shall continue to blog!

Today was my first day of uni, only I didn’t do a lot, since I didn’t have any actual classes. I was kind of peeved yesterday, since I got an email telling me that one of my classes had been cancelled at the last minute! I had next to no notice! Though luckily I think I’ve got it sorted out though, I went in today and my timetable and workload seems to be ok, since I’ve picked up another class instead of it. *fingers crossed*

Oooh! I’m witty tonight! I just HAD to do that! Look! Everything matches, even the avatar!

As you might have noticed, I’ve finally got a Wicked layout I like. This one’s becoming quite the group effort actually, since I’ve asked for quite a lot of feedback on BBSs and from my affiliates, so between now and the time I replace it, it could be an entirely different layout!

Thanks Kourtni, for suggesting the grey behind the text instead of black, it does look better!

A question for those of you in the know. What’s the deal with aliasing/anti-aliasing? Someone on AC told me I should do something like that to the text on the header (which may also change it’s shape in the near future), to make the outline less choppy and pixelly. It sounds simple, but how to do I do it? I’ve tried, and it doesn’t seem to make much difference…? :right:

EDIT 2: I think I’ve fixed my problem, I’ve changed the picture and it looks…passable. It’ll do, I just want to get rid of Valentine’s Day! I’d still like some comments and idea for the other one though, since I love that pic and would like to use it at some point!

EDIT: Ok ok, I’m truly stumped now. I think I need some advice, from someone more creative than me. This was going to be the header for my new layout (click for full size). I like the idea and the pic, but I don’t think it works. It looks blah. Especially when I combine it with a background which is also the really pale blue, it looks bland and insipid. I don’t know what it needs though, maybe brighter colours or something? Anyone have any bright ideas?

Gosh, I’m getting bad at not updating! I was intending not to do it again until I had my new layout, but since I’ve been chopping and changing it so much it’s taking longer than I thought. Argh! I really need to practise more on Photoshop, like I said in my last entry, I have so many good idea for layouts, but not the skills to make them!

I think I have one though, it not cute or pixelly, but I like it. I think my main problem was how to do it without making it too similar to a layout one of my affiliates has, since it’s kind of the same thing! I’m half done with the header, and I like it so far, so hopefully I should have it up tonight!

I’ve made a new layout. It’s not very good, but it’s of something I’m kind of obsessed with and I think it needs to star in my site’s layout to get itself out of my system, so it’ll stay up for awhile. Unfortunately though, I have a problem. ImageReady has decided to play up, so I can’t code it! Gaarrghh! I’m trying to repair it now, so hopefully I’ll have it up tonight or tomorrow.

I’m quite excited about it, but at the same time bummed because it’s not as cool as it could be, due to my Photoshop skills being decidedly average. Oh well, maybe I’ll have to do another one with the same theme once I get better, and drive you all insane yet again!

With regard to my avatars lately, yes, I know they’re pretty big, but I get quite a lot of stuff made on various BBSs, and I know people put lots of effort into their creations, so I feel inclined to use everything eventually, unless it’s absolutely enormous of course.

In other news, it’s Saturday today, which means no work for me, so today might be the day I make my post-Valentine’s layout, if I get some inspiration, lol! I do have an idea, and it’s not so cutesy as Sanrio or Tatty Teddy, but it would still be pretty awesome, if I can think of a way to make it work as an iframe!

I hope everybody got their birthday gifts, sorry if they looked funny, but a lot of my fonts and brushes and things decided to become corrupted files. Bah humbug.

Right now I’m trying to redownload iPhoto, so that I can keep a closer eye on all my pictures and back them up more easily. It’s 1% downloaded at the moment, so I hope it hurries up or I’ll still be here at Christmas!

Yay! I have my laptop back now, and all the important stuff seems to be there! Yay! I don’t seem to have lost any photos or letters or anything, and Photoshop works ok, but I have lost 3/4 of my iTunes, and I’m having problems with Dreamweaver, it tells me I need a new serial number etc, but that’s ok, it could have been a LOT worse, so I’m happy.

Not sure when I’ll be able to change my layout, without Dreamweaver fixed, but other than that I think I’m back on track. Woohoo!

As for birthday gifts and affie gifts for Valentine’s Day, they are definitely coming, hopefully while it’s still Valentine’s Day in at least SOME time zones!
