Who’s a Wicked fan…I think it’s me! I can’t believe I’ve made 3 themes ALL about Wicked! *feels pleased with self* I think this one might even be my favourite, it’s just so pink! Maybe I’ll keep it as the default for awhile now.
Anyway, today we did two more performances, and they were both pretty good. Not sure exactly how many were in either of our shows today, I forgot to ask, but there seemed to be a lot of kids wanting to participate, so that was great.
SUNDAY MORNING…
My parents were in the audience this morning, and I’ve always found it slightly weird doing childrens theatre in front of them, but oh well, it’s good they came I suppose. We didn’t have any major mishaps, aside from one woman forgetting some lines of one poem and having to adlib an entire extra verse to get the rhyming back on track again! I was seriously impressed that she managed to do it, I wouldn’t have, I’d probably have just started laughing!
SUNDAY AFTERNOON…
Our director and stage manager wanted us to do a warm-up before this show, since afternoon ones, particularly Sunday afternoons, are always kind of flat, since we’re pretty tired from having done 4 shows in two days! We did the warm-up, and apparently it worked, because the show was really good! A little girl from work and her mother came to this one, which was good, since I advertised it there, I wonder if anymore kids will turn up in the next part of the shows!
We don’t start back again until Thursday night now, which gives us time for a good break, although I’m still really busy with university work and my other drama assessment, so how much actual “break” I get to have remains to be seen, but oh well, such is life, I suppose.
This afternoon we finished our first four (of twelve) performances of Playbox…
THURSDAY NIGHT…
This was our Opening Night and despite a very small audience, it wasn’t too bad. We commented that it felt more like a final dress rehearsal than a show but oh well, it could have been worse, and the people who did come really seemed to enjoy it.
FRIDAY NIGHT…
A way better show tonight, we had 59 people in a 98 seat theatre, so that was pretty good. Two of my friends came tonight, and although they’re the same age as me, they were still amused by the show! Also tonight, one of my shoes flew off when I was dancing! I could feel it sliding off a few minutes before it happened, but because I didn’t have a free hand to grab it with, there was nothing I could do about it! It flew off and flung a metre or so away from where I was. Originally I didn’t think I’d be able to get it back, but when we turned around and went past it again I managed to slide my foot back into it! The audience laughed so hard, and when my friends saw me afterwards one of them asked me if I’d flung it off on purpose, which I hadn’t! I couldn’t have done it that well-coordinated if I’d tried!
SATURDAY MORNING…
This morning was probably the best show so far. We had an audience of 70-something, which is pretty good for a sunny, Saturday morning matinee! Nothing went too wrong today, aside from me, as the wolf in Peter and the Wolf, giving one child the fright of their life when I popped up behind then when they weren’t expecting it! Oops. :/
SATURDAY AFTERNOON…
This show was good, but we were all a bit tired so were a little bit flat. We had an audience of 50-something and nothing too exciting happened.
Also last week, nothing to do with the shows, on Friday I was walking through the university on my way to class when I saw my old high school English teacher! :O It was so random! She was the last person I expected to bump into, lol, but apparently she’d come to join the university’s library!

My sociology class went on a field trip today, we visited Dignity with Sincerity, which is a funeral home here in Christchurch. I was surprise that so few of the class turned up (only 15 or so out of around 40 people taking the course!) but I suppose a trip to a funeral home and mortuary isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!
It was really interesting though, and not creepy or morbid at all. We didn’t actually see any dead people (understandably there’d be some privacy/consent issues surrounding that, since not everybody would want their body peered at by university students!) but we saw the embalming room and the woman who runs the place talked us through what they do.
I haven’t decided to change tack completely and abandon social work in favour of becoming a funeral director, but I was intrigued by the whole concept, so I suppose you never know!

If I thought I would gain anything by doing so, I would say this to your face and completely show you up, but since I won’t, and since I feel bizarrely sorry for you, I’ll keep your identity to myself. You know who you are. Your guilty conscience is all that matters.
I know a lot of people admire you because you “speak your mind”. I don’t. On the contrary I think you have yet to realise how young and naive you really are, and that you and your opinions are not the be-all and end-all. Of ANYTHING.
The way you treat religious people, particularly Christians, is appalling. When somebody disagrees with you, they are “conservative”, “old-fashioned” and “narrow-minded”, but when you disagree with somebody, it makes you “free-thinking”, “intelligent” and “intellectual”.
You think that swearing at somebody and insulting them will make you look big and force them to respect you. You could not be more wrong. Granted, you may be something of an authority figure, but this does not give you license to say and do whatever you please. You are supposed to be a role model. Yes, this is a free country, but common manners and kindness do not go astray.
Enough said. You know who you are. Take it on board. You’re certainly not MY idol and I do not admire your arrogance one little bit.

I’ve just discovered the Theme Switcher plugin for WP, so I made another Wicked theme, starring Elphaba!
I want to make more, a LOT more, or at least one with “Miss Galinda”, since I can’t resist pink and ruffles, and maybe one with Fiyero too, if I don’t run out of enthusiasm before then!
