Why is it that all the stuff worth blogging about happens when I don’t have a computer!?
Not all of it’s good, in fact some of it’s kind of sad/bumming, but still, it’s something to write about, even if I am still writing on a PC because I’m still Mac-less.
It makes me sad. Boo.
Something else that makes me sad is what I read on the news on Tuesday afternoon. A girl I went to school with for a few years died after being hit by a car last weekend. (http://www.stuff.co.nz/4594826a10.html). I was never really friends with her, but we got on pretty well, and it’s horrible to think of something like that happening to someone you know. It seems like the type of thing that only ever happens to “other people”.
On Wednesday after I took my laptop in to be fixed and spent the day wandering around town with a friend, I joined a gym. My mum has been going to Curves for a few months now, and really enjoys it. It’s a women’s only gym, which means there are no old men around to stare at you (which is one thing that kind of scared me about the university gym I used to go to) and you only go there for 30 minutes a day, which is easy to fit in. I’ve only been once so far, but I joined for 3 months, through until the end of September, so hopefully it works.
On Thursday I FINALLY sat my learner driver’s lisence test! This means that I can start to learn to drive…which is kind of a scary thought! Oh well, we shall see. *contemplates booking driving lessons*
This morning I discovered my bedroom floor has flooded. I got out of bed and felt WET carpet under my feet. This is never a good sign, so dad and I moved all the furniture out of the way, pulled up the carpet and discovered that the underlay was absolutely soaking! We’ve concluded that the water has come in through the wall from outside, since our house is a split-level built into the side of a hill, and it’s been raining really heavily the last couple of days. Right now we’re trying to see if things will dry out with the help of the dehymidifier and the heater, or whether we’ll need to replace everything that’s been damaged! :/
Yup. So that’s my exciting life.

My iBook is dead.
When I got back from work this morning I went to start it up and found it was turned off. I thought that was a bit strange, so I tried to restart it. When I hit the power button the fan came on for a second like it usually does, but this time it just kept going and going and going…and nothing else happened. Oh noes! :O
Luckily for me, my friend’s Dad works at the Mac repair shop in town, so I took it in there, told him what had happened and he said he would text me once he found the source of the problem, and he was glad to hear that I had made recent backups of everything valuable on the harddrive, just in case.
A couple of hours later I got a message telling me that my iBook was dead (not worth fixing), but that the harddrive itself seems to be ok, and will be able to be transferred over to a new computer when I get one.
Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but I’m not too upset, other than being rather expensive to replace (assuming I get a new Macbook, which looks likely/logical), the laptop itself is just a “shell”, and everything valuable and important to me will still be there.
Right now I’m blogging from my mum’s Toshiba….which I am fast becoming enemies with. It’s no friend of mine, but at least it’s there and I haven’t totally vanished into nowhere!
I found out a bit more about the auditions for the show I blogged about in my last entry. It sounds like an awesome show (various musical theatre songs, from the 1920s to modern day), but unfortunately I’m not able to audition for it, since the performance dates are not at a time which is suitable for me.
I was kind of bummed, and so was the director, since I think she was kind of hoping that a big group of adults and older teens from Wonderland would also audition for that, since she knows what we’re capable of and are willing to do, but oh well, there’s no way I can do everything.
On a positive note, she did tell me about what she thinks the first show next year might be. Oliver Twist! I did some Googling and found out that it’s not the same script as Oliver!; it’s similar, but has different songs, and a lot more characters suitable for children, which is exactly what this company needs.
Auditions for this probably won’t be until the end of this year at the earliest, if it runs on the same schedule to Wonderland, but, still, it’s something to look forward to at least, since I’ve only done one show this year, which is strange for me, since I like to do as many as I possibly can!
If you’re a musical theatre person, what’s your favourite show? If you don’t like it, why not?
I have come to a conclusion. Furniture is hazardous. Quite a long time ago, I wrote this post about having walked into/tripped over the open bottom drawer of a filing cabinet in the storage room at work and cutting my ankle open. The resulting cut featured in rather a lot of Project 365 photos, and has left me with a rather interesting looking scar (which I’m still trying to think of a good story for, since “I tripped over the filing cabinet” isn’t very impressive!)
This morning seemed to be Holly vs. Furniture: Round II.
In the school hall where I work, there’s a stage at one end. This stage has 5 large storage bays underneath it, accessed by cupboards which are able to be locked. Unfortunately the doors on these cupboards have not been very well designed, and are therefore unable to stand up to being repeatedly banged, kicked and hit by balls. On one door, the damage has gotten to the extent that the door has come off the hinges entirely, and it seems that while waiting for the caretaker to come to fix, somebody had the bright idea to simply prop it up again, by leaning it against the other door, which causes it to LOOK as though it’s attached, shut and locked, even though it’s just resting there.
Unfortunately, I was not aware of this when I went to put something in the cupboard this morning. I pulled the other (attached) one open, and as it opened, the broken one fell over. Onto my foot. Although these doors aren’t terribly large, they are extremely heavy, so I ended up hopping around in pain on one foot, while trying not to swear in front of the kids! In the end I started laughing, because although it HURT, what else could I do!?
Furniture: 2 – Holly: 0
In other news, tonight I went and saw the play I auditioned for a couple of months ago. It was probably the funniest one I have ever seen! Strangely, I didn’t spend the whole time watching the woman who got cast in the part I wanted, and wondering why she was chosen instead of me…only part of the time! Perhaps unsurprisingly though, I didn’t reach any conclusions. Nothing obvious stood out that made me think “So THAT was why she got it! How could she not have!?” Although she was GOOD, I can honestly say I don’t think I am any worse!? Who knows? The director, I suppose. *shrug*
Speaking of auditions, I suspect I might have one next weekend, but I don’t know when the performance dates are yet, so I’m not 100% sure whether I’ll be able to do it. I’d like to though, it looks like it should be good. *crosses fingers*

After some EPIC procrastination, I have finally fully updated my Project 365! Although there are rather a lot of missed days, and a few placeholder images which I’ve had to use because the photos I took on those days are related to a birthday present for a friend whose birthday hasn’t been yet, and because it’s obviously supposed to be secret, I can’t exactly upload photos of it!
I’ve given up uploading them on here and Facebook, and decided to just use my Flickr account, which I have now decided to take somewhere better care of!
I also got FlickrRSS working, so you can see my latest updates on my sidebar. Yay!
As for this particular photo, this was one I randomly took on my phone’s camera when I was bored. I’m not normally as dark and “emo” as this, I just happen to have dark hair, dark eyes, be wearing a black shirt and sitting in front of a dark green curtain! I’m also not this wrinkly in real life! Forehead lines! At 20!? Is this normal!? o.O
The rest of Project 365 can be found HERE, please add me if you have a Flickr account! I can has friends!?
