Graduate school?

Met up with Felicity again today, after all the craziness of all the drama school stuff has blown over. I wanted to talk to her about what I ought to do once I finish university, and for obvious reasons, straight after the show, in the middle of the pack-out,  wasn’t the greatest time! O.O

She said she thinks I definitely ought to consider teaching drama as a career, since I seem to have the right kind of personality for it1 and enough energy. This is promising, because she herself is really successful at what she does…and hopefully good at spotting other people who are, or have the potential to be, equally capable! Common sense tells me I’d be very smart to take this woman’s advice!

The main thing she suggested was the NZ Graduate School of Education. I didn’t know much about it, other than as something mum had mentioned once or twice in passing. They’re private (not part of a university), but they’re supposed to be very good at training people to be teachers and at providing a supportive environment to work in.

This sounds good to me, so I’m going to ring them tomorrow and ask a few questions to find out whether they’re suitable for what I want to do, and, more importantly, whether I’d be an appropriate applicant!

Yay! Looks like The Life Plan of Holly is slightly further along than it was this morning! ^.^

  1. Amusingly, being told this is slightly frightening to me, since all the “drama people” I know, including Felicity herself, are slightly eccentric and weird! I’m not like that….am I!? []

Yet more scrapbooking

Since I promised a couple of people who commented on the last entry that I’d post photos of some of the scrapbooking I have done for the photos of my party, here’s the first page. Click to see it bigger, and yes, I took it with my new camera. :P

Pretty flowers // Tagged!

I bought something really exciting today! Well, it was exciting for me, being the nerdy, scrapbooking type that I am! A gigantic pad of cardstock flower pieces! It’s hard to describe online, but the pad has 500+ pieces of thick, differently patterned card in various flower shapes, which you piece together in whatever combination you like, along with any glitter, sequins or ribbon you want to add. The flowers are intended to be used on scrapbook pages/cards/canvases etc.

Yup. I was ridiculously excited when I saw it, and will definitely be posting some of my creations in the next couple of days!

Btw, expect quite bit more scrapbooking stuff to start appearing on here in the near future. I’ve been into it for awhile, but haven’t been able to post anything until recently, since the main thing I was working on was for Jenny‘s birthday, and since she visits here fairly regularly, I couldn’t exactly post what I was doing! ;)

Speaking of Jenny, I got tagged. I waited to do this until I had something else to include in the same entry, since I don’t like to do tags on their own, but here goes, 7 things about me, right here, right now…

1. I’m currently eating pizza, which, to my annoyance, has rather a lot of onion on it.
2. Today was the first day this spring/summer that I have worn shorts and jandals!
3. I’m listening to Rock Star by Miley Cyrus. It’s strangely catchy and could be worse, even though I’m not a Miley fan AT ALL!
4. I’m in the middle of a texting conversation with Brooke about her leftover muffins.
5. I’m wondering whether Poppy is going to end up sleeping on my bed tonight and waking me up at some ridiculous time in the middle of the night wanting to be let outside.
6. I’m feeling extremely bad that I STILL haven’t sent out all the thank you cards from my 21st, which was almost two weeks go. I am the worst person ever. FAIL.
7. I’m wishing I didn’t have to work tomorrow morning.

I’m not tagging anyone because I think we’ve all done this. Multiple times. :P

A shiny new toy!

My belated birthday present has finally arrived! We ordered one awhile ago and thought it had arrived, but when we opened it we promptly discovered it was the wrong camera! FAIL. o.O

The right one finally arrived last night and I started playing with it this morning! I haven’t done much with it yet but it looks cool, and rather more exciting than my old camera, so no doubt there will be some photos posted in the not too distant future, which, HOPEFULLY, will be rather better than this attempt…

It’s a Canon Powershot SX100 btw, does anyone else have this camera? What do you think of it?

The Busy Life of Holly

No, I have not given up and abandoned this blog! I’ve just been very and extremely busy this week and haven’t had time to get around to posting!

Monday night was the tech rehearsal for the drama school production, and the first time we rehearsed in the theatre. It went pretty well, with no major incidents!

Last night (Friday) was performance night, with two shows at 5pm and 7:30pm. The 5pm one wasn’t all that great. It was ok, but it had been better in some rehearsals. Quite a few kids forgot their blocking and/or lines and had to be prompted by Felicity or I. The 7:30pm one was MUCH better, and pretty much flawless!

After “my” class had performed I stayed in the theatre to watch the other, older students do their play, and, much to my amusement, they took the opportunity to alter some of their lines at the last minute (I think. I’m not sure if it had been rehearsed, because that class has a different tutor, but it looked spontaneous) to make fun of the head of the drama school!

The show they were performing had something in it that referenced boggarts in HP, the things that turn into whatever you’re the most afraid of. Three kids were in this scene, and the first one goes “Argh! Snakes!’; then “Argh! Spiders!” then; “Argh! Felicity!”. She was sitting next to me in the audience and was almost in tears from laughing so much! I was like “I’m guessing you didn’t know that was in there then!” and she was like “No! But I’ll get them! Just wait!” LMAO! I don’t know what she did to them though, I didn’t see! :(

Even though I wasn’t originally supposed to, I ended up going back tonight and doing front of house stuff for the second three groups of kids performing, which was actually quite a lot of fun. :)

So now I’m done with drama school. On one hand it’ll be kind of nice to have my Monday nights back again, but on the other hand, I’m going to miss it rather a lot! I’ve gotten quite attached to it! :(

In other news, it was Jenny‘s birthday today. She’s now OLD, like me! Hahah!
