Met up with Felicity again today, after all the craziness of all the drama school stuff has blown over. I wanted to talk to her about what I ought to do once I finish university, and for obvious reasons, straight after the show, in the middle of the pack-out, wasn’t the greatest time! O.O
She said she thinks I definitely ought to consider teaching drama as a career, since I seem to have the right kind of personality for it1 and enough energy.
This is promising, because she herself is really successful at what she does…and hopefully good at spotting other people who are, or have the potential to be, equally capable! Common sense tells me I’d be very smart to take this woman’s advice! The main thing she suggested was the NZ Graduate School of Education. I didn’t know much about it, other than as something mum had mentioned once or twice in passing. They’re private (not part of a university), but they’re supposed to be very good at training people to be teachers and at providing a supportive environment to work in.
This sounds good to me, so I’m going to ring them tomorrow and ask a few questions to find out whether they’re suitable for what I want to do, and, more importantly, whether I’d be an appropriate applicant!
Yay! Looks like The Life Plan of Holly is slightly further along than it was this morning! ^.^
- Amusingly, being told this is slightly frightening to me, since all the "drama people" I know, including Felicity herself, are slightly eccentric and weird! I’m not like that….am I!? [↩]
