NaBloPoMo 21: Moving Day I

I spent some time helping my theatre company move into their own premises. Aside from packing lots of heavy boxes into trailers, I got to see the space we’re moving to.

It’s in part of a furniture factory on the complete opposite side of town from my house. It sounds like a bit of an odd choice for a theatre company to move to, but once I saw inside it I can see why it was chosen. The space we have is absolutely giant. Because it’s a furniture factory, all the floors are wooden, which should look great once we get them polished.

There are also several large tables that used to be used for cutting huge bolts of fabric. These seem to have been abandoned there, so the landlord said we are welcome to them, and I have heard several mentions of cutting them up (so they’re not dangerously high) and using them as a stage. Excellent.

It was funny when I walked in, because the first thing I noticed was that part of the entrance area is painted an identical shade of green to our old studio! I am not a superstitious person AT ALL, but it struck me as one of those odd little things that make me think they picked the right place. Heh.

As for the cute bee in my last post, he was still stuck up on the wall when I was there today, and there was no ladder around for me to get him down, so I couldn’t rescue him. Boo. Back again tomorrow though, so perhaps I’ll get him then. I’m sure he would appreciate that.
