Went in to the theatre again yesterday, to help with tidying up and moving in. Our new studio/office/auditorium is part of what used to be a furniture factory’s showroom. A bit of an odd location for a theatre company. I have to admit I wasn’t too sure what I thought of it when I first visited, but as I’ve spent more time here and caught on to their ideas, I think it might actually turn out rather well, once we get up and running. I can see it working especially well for interactive kids shows!

This photo was taken looking from the end of what will be the auditorium, looking down towards where the stage will be built. It will extend as far out as the cream coloured tube. On the left of this photo, between the ceiling beam and the wall, will be the dressing rooms.

For this photo, I am standing in what will eventually be our office/admin area, and have turned to my left. At the moment this is a storage area, but the pieces of wood and set are also being used as markers, to demonstrate the eventual size and shape of the dressing rooms and sewing area.

This photo is standing by the entrance again, looking down towards the stage and slightly to the right. The black pipe you can see is a fireplace, which I presume, was used in the showroom. I’m not sure what’s going to happen to this yet.

For this photo I am standing where the stage will eventually be, looking down towards the main entrance and windows…which will eventually have thick, dark curtains on them!

Standing on the “stage” again, looking towards an enormous pile of stuff, and what will eventually be the office.

Finally: TreeMan! I’m not sure what show he was made for, but he’s been hanging out in the middle of the room for awhile, and I think he’s several different kinds of awesome, so I took his picture. I realised after I got home last night that I forgot to take any photos of “out the back”, where the wardrobe and storage area is. The door that leads to that space is to the right of TreeMan in the second photo above.
