Theatre Setup

Went in to the theatre again yesterday, to help with tidying up and moving in. Our new studio/office/auditorium is part of what used to be a furniture factory’s showroom. A bit of an odd location for a theatre company. I have to admit I wasn’t too sure what I thought of it when I first visited, but as I’ve spent more time here and caught on to their ideas, I think it might actually turn out rather well, once we get up and running. I can see it working especially well for interactive kids shows!

This photo was taken looking from the end of what will be the auditorium, looking down towards where the stage will be built. It will extend as far out as the cream coloured tube. On the left of this photo, between the ceiling beam and the wall, will be the dressing rooms.

For this photo, I am standing in what will eventually be our office/admin area, and have turned to my left.  At the moment this is a storage area, but the pieces of wood and set are also being used as markers, to demonstrate the eventual size and shape of the dressing rooms and sewing area.

This photo is standing by the entrance again, looking down towards the stage and slightly to the right. The black pipe you can see is a fireplace, which I presume, was used in the showroom. I’m not sure what’s going to happen to this yet.

For this photo I am standing where the stage will eventually be, looking down towards the main entrance and windows…which will eventually have thick, dark curtains on them!

Standing on the “stage” again, looking towards an enormous pile of stuff, and what will eventually be the office.

Finally: TreeMan! I’m not sure what show he was made for, but he’s been hanging out in the middle of the room for awhile, and I think he’s several different kinds of awesome, so I took his picture. I realised after I got home last night that I forgot to take any photos of “out the back”, where the wardrobe and storage area is. The door that leads to that space is to the right of TreeMan in the second photo above.

More Awesome Things

I did one of these awhile ago, and have decided to do another one, since Etsy is always full of awesomeness…

Cute Original Collage – I really love the bright colours on this. More red and orange than pink, which is kind of surprising for me, but I think it’s adorable anyway!
Pretty Rose Earrings – I would totally wear these…once I got over the fear of breaking them!
Doily Love – I don’t know why I added these, doilies are kind of random, but I think if I bought them I’d use them for scrapbooking!
Handmade Organiser – This has inspired me to try and make something similar to this. It looks completely do-able.
Pretty in Purple – I know I had a purple bag on my last Etsy post, but I like purple bags. They’re great.
Owl Be Fine – This is so childish and ridiculous. I’d never wear it, but I like it anyway.
Valentine Hankie T-shirt – I don’t know if I’d ever wear this either, but I like the bow!
Keep Calm and Carry On – I see this quote everywhere! I haven’t bought anything with it on it yet, but I think I want a poster like this!
Cute Rusty Bunny – So cute and furry! *poke*
Cute Retro Flower Pendant – Snazzy.
Owl Pendant – Even MORE snazzy. I would buy and wear this.
Karrie Klutch – Adorable. I want to buy this and store my stage makeup in it.

  1. Well! It wasn’t for a major play or musical, it was for an assessment at university, but it was performed in a theatre and open to the public, so I figured it counts.
We were working on a comedy unit and looking at, among other things, Lazzi. A guy in my group and I were arguing and and rolling around on the floor. AT one particular in-class rehearsal I was foolish enough to wear a pair of trousers that were quite loose across the hips. They started to fall off! THANKFULLY I noticed what was happening and stopped to pull them back up before before anything indecent got displayed, but everyone else in the group thought it was so funny that it had to be left in!
The result was my character’s pants falling down halfway through the scene (and subsequently being stolen and hidden!), and a pair of ridiculous blue boxer shorts, complete with bizarre Easter Island style motifs, being revealed.
Yes. It was just as stupid as it sounds. I wish I had it on video. []

5000 Question Survey (pt. 16)

301. List 5 things you have not experienced that you would like to experience before you die.
A. Being a parent
B. Getting married
C. Deciding what I want to do with the rest of my life.
D. Finding a job I enjoy.
E. Seeing how much longer I can get my hair to grow!
302. Will you try to accomplish any of these things within the next year? Yes, hopefully I will accomplish the job-related ones!
303. What do you feel controlled by? Common sense
304. If Jesus appeared to you and told you that the moon was made of green cheese would you believe him? No, I’d probably wonder who had spiked my drink!
305. What is one thing you are sure of? My hair is not blue
306. At what part of the day do you feel the most alert? Around the middle of the day
307. Have you ever played in a band? Not since I was very young
308. Have you ever stared into the ocean thinking ‘early creatures crawled outta that’? No, but now I probably will whenever I’m near the sea!
309. If not, what do you think of when you are staring into the ocean? Sharks and other things that want to eat me for dinner.
310. Do you like the mental challenge of chess or other games? Not really, although little kids who are incredible chess whizzes impress me, and I do like the musical Chess, it was one of the first I ever saw!
311. Do you ever think of where your atoms were before they were in you? Yes! I do! I wonder if some of them are from Hilter, or Beethoven. I used to think that was weird, but apparently I’m not the only person who does that!
312. Do you ever think about where your atoms will go after they have been in you? Into billions of other people! The ultimate recycling I suppose!
313. If you didn’t know that people couldn’t fly do you think that you could? I don’t know, I probably would have tried! Ow. That would hurt.
314. Are you someone that others call when they’re having a problem and want to talk about it? Sometimes, I wish I was a little more like this though, either people actively don’t trust me, or don’t realise that they can.
315. When it comes to literature, do you see beyond the writing and into the meaning intended by the author? Sometimes I think I do, although perhaps my brain conjures up an entirely new meaning altogether!
316. Is there anything you can take apart completely, and then put back together, and have no left over parts? My cellphone and its battery!
317. What are your feelings about the death penalty? I don’t know! I’ve never though about it enough to have a deeper opinion than that.
