Ok so I know it’s Saturday NZ time now, and this is usually a Friday meme so I’m slightly late in doing this, but this week’s topic was another excellent one, since this time next year I’ll (hopefully) be teaching my own class! Argh! That’s a scary thought! I start student teaching on Monday and don’t know whether I’m nervous or excited!

I don’t really remember what sort of gifts I gave my teachers when I was at primary school. I don’t think people in NZ really go to the same amount of trouble I’ve seen some other bloggers go to, and I think teachers here tend to get a lot of chocolate!

When I worked as an ESOL teacher I frequently got thank you cards from the kids I taught, some of which were really cute, and sometimes funny when their English wasn’t quite right! LOL! Another family once gave me an oil diffuser and room spray kit similar to the one on the right, which I really like the smell of and still use!

Also, this wasn’t actually a TEACHING job, but when I left the before school care programme where I worked from 2007 until 2009, the kids and supervisor gave me a bunch of helium balloons! I LOVED these and when they finally deflated (after two or three weeks!) I cut holes in the side of the big one, so I could flatten it and keep it to add to a scrapbook page!

I did this on the 13th of April, but am only just getting around to blogging it now. I got my gerbera from the supermarket, because I was so excited to see that they had PINK ones!

This photo was taken right after I got it home, when it still had one flower and five buds. The next day, the flower had started to wilt and die, and I accidentally chopped off one of the buds when I was trimming off some extra bushy leaves. Oops! :(

Right now, the poor gerbera is a bit wilted because I think I accidentally overwatered it. Shockingly, I’ve never actually had a pot-plant before, so I wasn’t sure how much water it liked. Not that much, apparently!

Hopefully it will start to revive now that I’ve stopped watering it and left it in the sun on the windowsill. Fingers crossed! Also, a prettier flowerpot might help too, I think. I’m on the lookout for one, but they’re not actually that easy to find!

The tutoring center I used to work at had one of these rebus puzzles on the whiteboard every week. I was USUALLY able to figure them out, but some of them stumped me.

Since the last riddle I posted on here got a good response, I figured a “Weekly Rebus” might be fun. Anybody know this one…?
