I’m now officially 23. This is not actually a terribly exciting age to be, but I still managed to have a pretty darn awesome birthday!
This morning I met up with Jenny for coffee and chocolate, two of our collective favourite things! The fact that she used Disney Princesses wrapping paper amused me A LOT. And made me happy.
After Jenny went home (minus the parking ticket she suspected she might get, lol!) I went to my friend’s house (the same friend who did THIS for me) to meet up with a group of other friends from TColl. Thanks to the earthquake our official mid-placement meeting on campus was cancelled, so I suggested we do this instead. What I didn’t expect was this…
This HAS to be one of my favourite birthday cakes ever. Definitely.
It turned out that two of my friends, L. and M., had collaborated that morning on this rather awesome cake! L. had made it, and intended to ice it with chocolate fudge icing, but then M. showed up. Cake decorating is one of her hobbies, and this was the result! Amazing!
Considering that this was intended as way more of a TColl get-together than a birthday event I was rather concerned when I arrived at their house to be greeted at the door by L.’s husband, H., who saw me and then shouted that I was here. L. came out and was like "Ok, you have to go into the lounge and not past the kitchen!"
Then I heard M.’s voice from the kitchen and realised that she was there too! Yep. Something was up! Sneaky women!
I loved the cake, but I love my friends more. I love that they bothered! It’s a funny thought that, with the exception of one girl, Lisa, who I went to primary school with (but hadn’t seen between the ages of 12 and 22!), none of these people were in my life this time last year! I’m glad they’re in it now. I’ve now told L. she needs to find a way to clone herself. The fact that there’s only one of her (and of M., and all my other friends!) is a problem.
Everyone needs friends like mine. <3
