Long time readers of this blog might remember me mentioning Lorraine several times previously. Like here, and here!

Due to some circumstances which are very stressful but not mine to post about on the internet, I went to visit her today and deliver some flowers and a card. Catch was, she didn’t know I was coming!

I’d been planning this for several days, but thanks to my giant pile of assignments, I wasn’t sure when I’d actually be able to do it. Of course while I waited for the perfect moment, I decided it would be a great idea to text her some entirely unhelpful clues to encourage her to guess what the heck was going on! I’m a mean friend sometimes.

Before I got to her house I told her to “Look out your window in about ten minutes”. It just so happened that when she did, she saw a strange man arriving at the house! This man was actually a builder who had come to fix their chimney after the earthquake, and was absolutely nothing to do with me! It was still funny though, that he just HAPPENED to turn up at exactly the right time to make her think “WTF!? Who on earth is this!? What is Holly doing!?”

Then I got to their house and knocked on their door, left the flowers I’d brought with me on their doorstep, and hid behind their porch. Mwahaha!

Her husband opened the door, saw the flowers, went around the corner to see who had left them and nearly fell over me, since I was crouching down behind the wall waving my arms at him to get him to pretend I wasn’t there! He knows I am, as another friend of mine would say, “as mad as a bucket of frogs”, and played along like he HADN’T just about tripped over someone hiding around the corner!

Needless to say, he was not successful and she spotted me pretty quickly. I was sad. I was hoping I could have rung their doorbell a few more times are really confused her! She did think I was funny though, and the point I was trying to make (Which was, basically, that she is awesome, and that she shouldn’t let other people’s actions, or lack of actions, convince her otherwise) was made. I think. I hope.

Oh! Also! As I was leaving she showed me part of their garden wall, which has a huge crack in it courtesy of the earthquake. The safety measure she (or her husband?) took to prevent the aforementioned wall collapsing made me laugh so hard that I just HAD to take a photo so I could blog about it!

Yes. It is string. You are seeing correctly. String. To hold up a wall. Ummmm…? Ok.
