Wow! That was fast! I didn’t expect this blog would hit 50 quite THAT quickly! Anyway, I have used RANDOM.ORG to help me draw the winner of this lovely bird sign, but before I announce it, in the interests of being completely honest, I figured I’d give a quick explanation of how I decided which person goes with which number. I did it by expanding the widget and scrolling back to the very beginning, to see who the very first person to join the site was. This person (hnoppenheim) was #1, and the most recent person to join (Healthy Branscoms) was #50. This was the fairest way I could think of to do it, and I thought I should share, so nobody is wondering.
Right! The winner of this lovely bird is….

Jessica

Congratulations Jessica! Please reply to my email letting me know the address to send your prize to! :)
Thanks to everyone else who followed/entered, and if you didn’t win, don’t worry, because this definitely won’t be the last of the giveaways on this blog! I’ll do another one when I hit 100 followers, and also most likely when this blog has it’s 5th birthday in the middle of next month!

Since this blog has almost reached 50 followers, I figured it might be time for another giveaway! I haven’t done one of these for ages!
How To Enter
- 42 people already have!
- Yep. See that button on the sidebar on the left that says “Join this site”? Click it.
- That is ALL YOU HAVE TO DO (make sure you don’t follow privately – otherwise I won’t know about you!). You don’t have to comment, but you can if you like. :)
- When the widget hits 50 followers, RANDOM.ORG will choose a number between 1 – 50 to pick the winner! WAY better odds of winning than other giveaways which tend to have 200 – 300 entries!
Ok. So what do you win?

I actually intended to give this super cool metal sign away a couple of months ago, straight after I bought it, but then the earthquake and my insanely busy teaching placement happened and I simply never got around to it, so I figured now’s as good a time as any! It measures about 20x20cm and is very flat, light and easy to post.
Also, just so you know, this blog doesn’t have any sort of sponsorship or anybody funding it. I bought this sign myself, from a shop at the mall, just because I liked it and wanted to give it away. :)
Finally, if by the time you read this post there are already 50 followers, don’t worry, follow anyway, because I’ll more than likely do another one when I reach 100!

I just realised I have never blogged about the event which has been taking place in the quarry/reserve behind my house for the last five years.

This cross is erected each Easter by all the churches in the area, and is usually visited by hundreds of people every year.
Just before I started to type this blog post, I wandered out my back gate and down through the quarry a bit to see if I could take a good photo, but since the earthquakes, a lot of the walking tracks are now cordoned off because they’re not safe, which meant I couldn’t get a very good picture without walking ALL the way down the hill and standing right in front of it. Luckily, the handy, dandy internet had a much better one!
What community/church events happen in your area for Easter?
P.S: If you haven’t already, please click “Join this site” over on the sidebar and follow me through Blogger. I know this isn’t a Blogspot blog, but I installed the widget anyway…or at least I attempted to! o.O
