I was SUPPOSED to be at TColl today, on the first day of my intensive theory course before placement next week, but last night it started to snow, and hasn’t really stopped since, so TColl and uni are both closed for the day (along with pretty well everything else in Christchurch!) and my FB news feed has been filling up with people posting photos of the snow!
When I opened my front door early this morning this is what I saw…

Here is what I was doing at 9am this morning…

Mr. Carrot Nose is about 4.5 feet tall, and because it was still snowing while I was outside, my footprints didn’t even go all the way down to the grass underneath, so this is definitely the heaviest snow we’ve had in quite awhile!
Hope all you people experiencing the heatwave in the US are staying cool…I certainly am!

Apologies to everyone who has stopped by this blog in the last couple of days and found it offline. It seems that there was some sort of glitch with renewing my domain and hosting, and this site was disabled by mistake. Oh well – fixed now! :)

Today I would like to talk about her.
More importantly, I would like to talk about the difference between things which are funny, and things which are not. Clowns are funny. Jokes are funny. Animals doing cute things are funny.
Someone dying at 27 years old, regardless of what kind of person they were, is certainly not funny.
I logged onto Twitter this morning to see a whole lot of "RIP Amy Winehouse" tweets, and initially thought it was a joke.
Then I Googled, and discovered it was not. I looked on Twitter and FB some more, and noticed quite a few people making jokes, or "clever" remarks about her death. I’m not going to repeat them here, but I’m sure you can probably guess what they consisted of.
Even though Amy Winehouse made some bad choices in the way she chose to live her life, and may not been a very good role model for young women who admired her, she was still a person. Her lifestyle does not change the fact that she was somebody’s daughter, sister, friend, neighbour, colleague etc.
Drug addiction is a real illness. Money doesn’t fix everything. Amy Winehouse’s death is sad. :(
