Yesterday, I attempted paintball.
Yep. My ridiculously unsporty self actually went and played a game where you dress up in overalls and a mask and carry a gun to shoot paintballs (as in, actual physical projectiles!) at people!
This was SO not my first choice of Saturday afternoon activity, and especially not while I’m on placement, but a friend of a friend organised it so I figured I might as well go!
I don’t know if I actually managed to hit anyone during any of the six games we played, but as a result I now have a HUGE bruise on my left thigh. Paintball HURTS – although really I’m surprised I don’t have more bruises, since I get them pretty easily.
Yeah. Not exactly my new hobby, I guess I can see why people enjoy it, but I don’t think I’d want to play it again!
Has anyone else ever played this, or am I alone in my dislike of sports that inflict pain?!

Earlier today I saw this…

This object has been temporarily removed as we revise its facial expression, which was deemed zoo-logically improbable and/or terrifying to small children.
Needless to say, my next thought was "What the heck is this object!?"
After I bit of Googling, I concluded it was probably this…

DERP.
Yep. This is exactly what it looks like. A very poorly taxidermied lion. Zoologically improbable indeed!
This is how the handy dandy internets inform me this unfortunate and terrifying incident occurred…
In 1731, King Fredrick I of Sweden was given a lion as a gift. Eventually, the lion died. The king decided that since he liked his lion so much, he wanted to have it stuffed. By the time they located a taxidermist to do this, all that was left of the lion of was a pile of skin and bones.
Here is where it all goes pear-shaped.
Unfortunately, this particular taxidermist had never actually seen a lion in real life, so presumably took a bit of artistic license. Therefore, the terrifying creation above resulted.
Happy nightmares Friday everybody!

Today is Wednesday. I have not been at school at all this week.

This is why.
This might not look like a large amount of snow to some of you who live in cold parts of the world and who deal with this (and more) on a fairly regular basis each winter, but here in NZ, and particularly in Christchurch, this is the most snow we’ve had in A LONG time, and it’s more than enough to shut down virtually our whole city.
It started snowing (AGAIN! The second time this winter!) on Sunday evening, and actually stopped yesterday morning, but because the temperature has still been so cold, and it’s been raining, the snow has stuck around and turned into ice. Awesome.
According to my supervising teacher, my school should hopefully be reopening tomorrow morning, but until then I have been working on my mountain of paperwork, which is now only slightly smaller than the mountain of snow outside of my door!
Oh, and I also went outside yesterday and recorded a vlog…but that’s still uploading to Youtube so I’ll post it later!
