LASIK

Off to the eye clinic today, to see if I’m a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery. I’ve needed glasses since I was seven years old, but have worn contact lenses since I was twelve.

Overall my contacts have been pretty good, and I haven’t had any major problems, but recently I’ve been thinking that this might be a good idea, in the sense that contacts and glasses would then be one less thing to worry about.

Surprisingly for me, I’m not terribly squeamish about the thought of it. The fact that they use a laser to cut a flap in your eye as opposed to a blade certainly helps! Dad and I watched an info DVD about it yesterday and all the people featured on it (one of whom I randomly knew from theatre stuff, lol!) said they were extremely surprised by how NOT a big deal it was. It took less than 10 minutes and was pretty well pain-free. Hmm. We shall see.

EDIT: Am apparently a excellent candidate. Great. Now I actually have to decide if I really want it…
